Broadband tax will pay for networks in rural areas
Everyone with a landline phone in the UK will pay an extra charge that will be used to improve broadband speeds and expand Internet access in rural areas, according to Lord Carter's Digital Britain report. This charge will be 50p per month, or £6 per year, for every household with a fixed line.
