Check your TV licences, businesses warned
TV licence watchdog TV Licensing is advising businesses to check they are covered for employees watching sport online. The warning comes as Britain gears up for a summer of sport including Euro 2008, Wimbledon and the Olympics. Many sports events will be watched online thanks to developments in broadband, and TV Licensing is warning businesses that they face a £1,000 fine if they do not possess a TV licence and are caught allowing staff to watch TV online. Some businesses may not be aware of the TV licensing rules which cover the watching and recording of all TV programmes as they are broadcast. TV Licensing is urging businesses to check their online activity and apply for a licence if they watch programmes online.
