"Growing army" of unqualified tradesmen botching home repair jobs
One in ten Brits have had to claim on their home insurance after hiring an unqualified tradesman to carry out repair work, according to a survey by Lloyds TSB. Over 4.6 million claims have been made in the past year, which has been attributed to homeowners hiring rogue traders at the lowest possible price during the downturn. Plumbers and builders were singled out as the most frequently cited tradesmen who botched repair work.
