Mobile phones will replace cash payments, report predicts
Researchers have predicted that mobile phones could make traditional wallets and purses redundant by 2011. A report on near field communication (NFC), a form of wireless communication, by SJB Research forecasts that mobile phones could be used to make a range of payments, replacing credit cards, loyalty cards and bus and train tickets. The report also predicts that the UK will be one of the first countries to use these new 'mobile wallets'.
