There are several sources of support for businesses involved with international trade, particularly for exporters.

The Department of Trade and Industry offers extensive advice and support facilities, and much of this can be accessed from it's website. When appropriate, this can include specific assistance and information from UK embassies and consulates abroad.

The Black Country Business Link has a team of Advisors who specialise in International Trade, and can provide valuable help. They can be contacted on 0845 113 1234.

The main Banks can provide information about the documentation required for trading with specific countries, through their International branches, and the costs involved. This will include details of the Documentary Credit system used to ensure that international payments are made and received properly.

For general advice you can also talk to the ABCD Business Development Team, who have knowledge of the subject and can signpost your best moves to make progress. This service is free and confidential. Tel: 01902 556164.
